Hello, my name is Kayleen Soden. I enjoy studying nutrition, nature, psychology, the Bible, and self-discovery. I love animals, books, and the great outdoors. I became a Wellness Coach because of my own health needs and the needs I see in the world around me. More recently, I am changing gears to produce products that you can incorporate into your daily life that help you on your wellness goals!
Phoenix Holistic Wellness, LLC was birthed from the fire of trials of life and has triumphantly spread new wings to help others on their personal journeys.
Life is not always easy. Sometimes it is a hard knock life. Yet, these hard times always have the potential to strengthen resilience and renew one’s resolve. That is where I have come from and what fueled the idea and intuition for Phoenix Holistic Wellness, LLC. This hard knock life has taught me the strength of love and compassion.
I have always been interested in nature and natural things. From a small child, our Creator has given me plants and animals to help me on my journey in life. As I grew older, I learned about the immense healing that comes from relationship with God. As I continued to learn, I became intimately connected with the importance of nutrition and rest/self care. Finally, I came to understand the role of knowing oneself and being authentic in creating permanence. I sought to help others be the best version of their created selves and Phoenix Holistic Wellness, LLC offers me that doorway to you.
My training is multi-faceted from the following schools:
Institute for Integrative Nutrition* where I studied a variety of dietary theories and practical lifestyle coaching methods.
The Certified Health Coach Institute – where I studied from a Biblical perspective.
Green Wisdom School of Natural and Botanical Medicine – and The School of Evolutionary Herbalism – where I studied herbalism from a variety of perspectives, all based on holistic study of herbal medicine.
I also studied Trauma-Informed Herbalism and Somatic Herbalism from Dr. Elizabeth Guthrie of Empathic Coaches Academy.
I studied Life Coaching from Transformative Coach, David Key.
I am thankful for each of these schools, as they have all offered a small piece of what I give to you, my client.
The mission of Phoenix Holistic Wellness, LLC is to spread the love of God and Biblical principles throughout the United States; in a loving and Christ-like manner. We do this by helping any and all to overcome emotional hurdles that are hindering them from making the best decisions for themselves and their community at large. Additionally, we seek to educate the Christian Church at large about emotional well-being, how to respond well to trauma and abuse, and how to exist within the Truth in a manner that does not turn others away from Christ; but rather leads them toward healing and wholeness.
An excellent description of my scope as an Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, INHC, is found at Institute of Integrative Nutrition (IIN), where my INHC certification comes from. Here is an image from them with a great, bullet point listing with just some of what IIN trains their coaches to do.
I engage in clinical supervision to ensure I am providing ethical and practical services that fit within the scope of my practice.
I love the way Grand Canyon University answers this question and feel it describes my coaching well. This is what they have to say: “Life coaching may explore past experiences and emotional trauma to a limited extent. However, it will largely focus on how clients can change their current behaviors in order to build the lives they want for themselves.” Here is the article cited: https://www.gcu.edu/blog/psychology-counseling/life-coach-vs-therapist-what-are-differences
Therapy focuses on these things for the long haul. A therapist has the training necessary to dig deeper and assist clients through flashbacks and other intense mental health concerns.
This area can be very sensitive for people and I believe in a blend of ultimate truth and personal truths. I believe in Biblical Christianity as being the ultimate truth. I understand that not all my clients will be open to that, and so give my clients the choice to discuss this or not.
With that said, my clients lead our sessions. My coaching style is not to establish me as the expert on “you”. You are the expert on you and my desire is to help you learn how to lead your own life, rather than being told what and how to live your life. In my initial questionnaire, I ask my clients how much they are willing to work with any aspect of my coaching: nutrition, herbal, nature based, trauma based, or Biblical coaching.
This, again, is about each client getting to know their own bodies and deciding what is best for them. My job/goal is to help each person to mindfully pay attention to what their own bodies are communicating to them. I do some teaching, such as teaching self acceptance/advocacy, etc also require that we have self responsibility. Without both of these things intact, we cannot truly know what is best for ourselves. We can become out of balance in either direction. Accepting self without self responsibility leads us to living from a self centered perspective that does not serve the wider world. Having a firm understanding of self responsibility without also accepting oneself brings us to living a life of guilt and shame, leading to mental dis-ease and pain. Therefore, it is imperative for us to learn these things before we really understand the other choices we make for ourselves.
